By joining the Friends of Beamish, you’ll be helping to secure the future of The Living Museum of the North for future generations. The Friends have donated £887,000 since founding in 1967, helping museum projects such as Hetton Band Hall and Eston Church and buying Model T Fords.

Some of our Friends of all ages volunteer their time to help the museum. You can be a Friend of Beamish without being a volunteer, but if you’d like to get involved you’d be made very welcome.
There are lots of ways to help, from using practical skills to restore vehicles and equipment, wearing costume in exhibits or at events, or providing admin support.

What about a gift or legacy?
The Friends are very grateful for any gifts or legacies, whether large or small, which help crucial restoration projects and developments at Beamish. A £200,000 legacy was used to create the interior of Davy’s Fried Fish Shop, including the painstaking restoration of the beautiful ceramic tiles.
