Beamish Museum is seeking expressions of interest for suitably experienced consultants to carry out evaluation of the Remaking Beamish project. Remaking Beamish is the biggest development in the museum’s history and includes the creation of a 1950s Town, 1950s Farm, transport developments and expansion of The 1820s Landscape, including examples of early industry and overnight accommodation. The Remaking Beamish project was awarded £11.8million by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
The Remaking Beamish project evaluation should include the following:
- an independent review and evaluation focusing on the NLHF approved purposes and any changes to the project
- a comprehensive assessment of the project’s impact, consequences, and experiences across Beamish, including visitors, staff, and the museum as a whole
- consideration of how the project evolved and responded to the challenges that the COVID pandemic brought and what lessons can be learnt
- conclusive findings and recommendations for future developments at the museum
The anticipated value of the project is circa £20K and should commence mid July 2024 with completion by the end of January 2025.
