Leave a Gift in Your Will

We realise that it’s a big decision, but after you have provided for friends and family, you might also like to leave a gift in your will to Beamish Museum.

Your valuable legacy would be helping to ensure that future generations can continue to experience this amazing museum, which is a charity, and support our core purpose of telling the story of everyday working life in the North East of England through time.

There are two ways in which you can leave a legacy:

Leave a cash gift to the museum. Your solicitor will be able to advise you, however you will need the following information to be included in your will:

Charity name: Beamish Museum
Address: Beamish Museum, Beamish, Stanley, County Durham, DH9 0RG.
Registered charity number: 1122366

Leave a residuary estate gift. Leaving a gift to the museum in this way can reduce your inheritance tax bill. You will need the support of a solicitor to arrange this.

We hugely value your support, and it can make a difference in the following ways:

  • It costs £1,000 a week to run one tram around the museum site
  • It costs £16,000 a month to provide costume to our staff and volunteers
  • It costs £21,000 a month to care for our horses

Beamish is a charity and 95 per cent of our income is from visitors. Your donations and legacies left to the museum are helping to secure our future and are gratefully received.

All gifts make a difference

Every penny of your gift can make a difference to benefit our future generations and we are thankful for all donations, no matter their size.

If you have remembered Beamish, The Living Museum of the North in your will, we’d love to hear from you.  Not only will this help us make plans for the future of the museum, it also means we can thank you properly for your support.
