We have lots of exciting opportunities for seasonal positions in our 1900s Town, 1950s Town, Mining Life, Bus and Tramway. Steam and Railway, Cleaning and Food and Beverage teams.

Our working environment could not be more different from a typical environment, set in a 350-acre landscape, where else could you time travel from 1900s, 1940s to 1950s in a day?

As a 1900s Town Engager, you could be working in one of our exhibits in this fast-paced area such as the Co-op, the houses of Ravensworth Terrace or the garage, engaging with our visitors, or you may be in one of our retail spaces such as Jubilee Confectioners or The 1900s Town Stalls.

Apply to be a 1950s Town Engager and you could be work in one of our 1950s exhibits such as the Elizabeth’s Hairdresser’s, The Grand cinema or the police houses, sharing stories and offering visitors the opportunity to be involved in activities.

Become a Mining Life Engager and you could be engaging with visitors and school groups in the chapel, school, pit cottages or delivering tours in the drift mine.

Hop aboard a traditional bus or tram as a Bus and Tramway Engager. You will get to travel in style while transporting our visitors around the museum on our historic vehicles as a driver or conductor. You will provide a warm welcome to all of our visitors, ensuring they arrive at their chosen area across site.

As a Steam and Railway Engager you could be working on The Waggonway, Colliery Railway or at Rowley Station as well as other areas within the Transport Team.

Travel between the 1820s and 1950s as a Cleaner. You will ensure the museum and its facilities are spick and span for all our visitors to enjoy.

Join the Beamish Museum team as a Food and Beverage Assistant where you will be engaging with visitors, cash handling, serving and preparing food and drink, cleaning and replenishing stock. This is a very fast paced role and involves working in our catering outlets across site including the Tea Rooms, Coffee Shop, our two fish and chip shops.

Flexibility in these roles is key, the successful candidates must be available to work up to 5 days out of 7 every week, this includes weekends, midweek and bank holidays to cover the needs of the museum.

Contract Type	Seasonal fixed term to 31^st December 2024
Contract Hours	Working on a rota basis between 0 – 37 hours per week working up to 5 days from 7 including weekends, Bank Holidays and evening events.
Starting Salary	16 years £7.61 per hour 17 years £8.48 per hour 18 years + £11.70 per hour
Annual leave	You will be entitled to the equivalent of 33 days’ paid holiday during each holiday year (including 8 bank holidays) and this will be accrued based on the hours you work.
Probation	This role is subject to a 12 week review process and 6 month probation period.
