Exciting Jobs on Offer at Beamish Museum

From working with heritage transport to creating tasty traditional treats, become part of something special with exciting and unique new jobs at Beamish, The Living Museum of the North.

Beamish held its first Recruitment Fair yesterday (9th February 2023) and received an outstanding level of interest from potential candidates. Anyone interested in the varied and unique seasonal roles had the chance to speak to current museum staff to find out more about what the role would involve. The fair attracted a whole host of potential applicants, from school leavers looking for their first job, to retirees looking for a new challenge.

The museum is advertising a variety of seasonal roles, including in The 1900s Town and Pit Village, Entrance Team, Transport Team, Cleaning Team, Rural Life Teams and Food Team. The closing date for applications is Sunday, 19th February.

Michelle Suddes, HR Manager (interim) at Beamish Museum, said: “We were extremely pleased to see the level of interest for our seasonal vacancies, especially with it being the first recruitment fair the museum has organised. It was a great opportunity to meet members of the public who share a passion to work at Beamish. It gave the public a chance to come into the museum to discuss the roles and ask any questions. We all had an enjoyable evening meeting potential candidates and would certainly look to hold another fair in the future. Thank you to all those who came to the museum and we look forward to receiving your application.

“If you weren’t able to make it to our recruitment fair there is still time to apply for any of the seasonal roles available. The closing date for these roles is Sunday, 19th February.”

As well as an exciting and varied role, the benefits of working at the museum include a Beamish staff pass, which allows free entry for the employee and three other people, discount on catering and retail, contributory pension scheme, free parking and wellbeing initiatives such as our staff and volunteer skill shares.
