Beamish, The Living Museum of the North, is the North East’s most popular museum, bringing history to life with the unforgettable sights, sounds and tastes of the past. Why not check out our winter opening hours and plan your next visit?

Travel through history this winter! Visit the 1820s and chat to the Georgians at Pockerley, visit the homes and businesses in The 1900s Town, go back to school in The 1900s Pit Village, meet the Land Girls and Home Guard at The 1940s Farm and discover the fabulous 50s at our 1950s Town.

Beamish Winter Opening Hours 

  • 17th December 2022 to 8th January 2023 (inclusive): Open daily, 10am-4pm (closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day)
  • 9th January 2023 – 17th February 2023: Open weekends only, 10am-4pm (closed Monday – Friday)
  • 18th February 2023 – 26th February 2023: Open daily, 10am-4pm
  • 27th February 2023 – 31st March 2023: Open Wednesday – Sunday, 10am – 4pm (closed Mondays and Tuesdays)

There are so many fantastic things to see and do at Beamish Museum, why not use your Beamish Unlimited Pass or Friends of Beamish membership to explore all that Beamish Museum has to offer? Throughout the year, Beamish hosts a variety of events which are included in the admission price.

Visitors are no longer required to book timeslots to visit the museum, you just need your Unlimited Pass or Friends of Beamish membership to come to see us, which can be bought online. Last admission is one hour before closing time.
