Mothering Sunday 2023

Enjoy a special Mother’s Day at Beamish. Join us to discover the customs and traditions of the day, and join in with family activities.

  • Head to Pockerley Old Hall and plant a seed or bulb to take home. Once grown, why not enter your plant into our upcoming Beamish Allotment, Garden and Flower Show?!
  • Have a scent-sational time making a lavender bag in The 1900s Town.
  • Enjoy crafting flowers in The 1900s Pit Village school, and see traditional Simnel cake being made in preparation for Easter over in the pit cottages.
  • Up at The 1940s Farm you can make a special Mothering Sunday postcard then walk across to Spain’s Field Farm to have a go at straw flower making.
  • Have fun with card making in the 1950s welfare hall and afterwards see a fascinating collection of cards from our archive on display in No.2 Front Street on our 1950s Front Street terrace.

As with all daytime events, you can use your Unlimited Pass or Friends of Beamish membership to enjoy this special event.
