At this four-day steam spectacular from 12th to 15th April there’ll be vehicles of all shapes, sizes and colours, with something for everyone to enjoy.
One of the museum’s own replica Georgian steam engines will give rides on Pockerley Waggonway and, at Rowley Station, the passenger service will be hauled by Baxter, built in 1877 by Fletcher Jennings and on loan from the Bluebell Railway. North Norfolk Railway’s locomotive, Y7, will work alongside Baxter at Rowley.
An intensive electric tramway service will be running, and visiting 112 year old tram, Birkenhead 20 is sure play a starring role, visiting courtesy of the Merseyside Tramway Preservation Society.
The museum’s reknowned ‘Coffee Pot No.1’ will be shunting on the Colliery Railway alongside Manning-Wardle engine 'Newcastle' which will be on static display. The Colliery Yard will also host a working narrow gauge railway with diminutive shunting engines Paddy and Chaloner.
An amazing array of traction engines, steam lorries and steam rollers, with wonderful names such as Ayesha, Providence and Rambler, will trundle around the museum and there’ll be a fabulous display of visiting vintage vehicles – cars, vans, motorcycles and more besides.
There’ll be rides on the beautiful 119-year-old steam Gallopers and family fun to join in – a tug of war, model making, steam-themed science activities and much more besides.
A must for steam and transport enthusiasts alike, there is no extra charge for this event and admission is included in the regular museum entry price. Take a look below at some of the photos from 2010's event.
