Food and Beverage Engagers
Imagine serving up history on a plate! We’re searching for enthusiastic Food & Beverage Engagers to join our museum team! Picture yourself serving classic fish and chips, then stepping into our Drovers Tavern to serve 1800s-inspired meals in a truly authentic setting. You’ll be preparing food and beverages, many of which have been developed from historical recipes and menus, in a fast-paced and fun environment, and chatting with fascinating folks while providing a top-quality customer service.

1900s Town Engagers
Journey into the Edwardian era and join our team as an Engager in our bustling Edwardian Town! Your days will be a whirlwind of activity, from tempting visitors with sweets in the Jubilee Confectioners shop to the task of black leading a kitchen range. You’ll be immersed in a fast-paced world, caring for and cleaning exhibits, igniting a passion for history in our visitors, and sparking cherished memories while making new ones. You will also be working in our bustling retail outlets, ensuring smooth and speedy transactions.

Cleaners
We’re looking for friendly faces to keep our site sparkling! Duties include cleaning various buildings, catering areas, and restrooms. You’ll also maintain the cleanliness of our grounds by litter picking, emptying internal and external bins, and replenishing dispensers as needed. Excellent customer service skills are essential! If you’re a team player who takes pride in their work, we want to hear from you!

Mining Life Engagers
Ready to dig into history? ⛏️ We’re looking for friendly and engaging individuals to join our team and help visitors immerse themselves in the world of a 1913 mining village. From exploring the pit cottages to leading drift mine tours, you’ll play a key role in bringing the past to life. If you’re passionate about history and enjoy connecting with people, we encourage you to apply!

1950s Engagers
Step back in time with us! 🕰️ We’re looking for enthusiastic Engagers to join our 1950s Town. You’ll play a key role in bringing history to life for our visitors, from welcoming them to the Grand cinema to assisting with lively events like tea dances and our annual pantomime. From keeping the exhibits spick and span to ensuring the fires are burning bright, no two days will be the same! If you have a passion for history and enjoy interacting with people, we want to hear from you.

Georgian & Rural Life Engagers
Showing what life was like on the Home Front during the Second World War at our 1940s Farm, demonstrating traditional rural skills in our 1950s Spain’s Field Farm or welcoming visitors to Pockerley Old Hall, you’ll play a key role in representing North East rural life to visitors.

Entrance Team Members
As members of the Entrance Team, we provide the first and last impression for every museum visitor. We’re responsible for creating a welcoming and positive experience for visitors from the moment they arrive. Our roles range from managing parking and operating tills in Admissions or the Museum Shop, to greeting and assisting visitors. In every interaction, we strive to deliver exceptional customer service. We’re looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our award-winning team.
