There's Still Time to Enjoy a Fabulously Festive Visit to Beamish Museum This Christmas

There’s still time to enjoy Christmas at Beamish! From magical Christmas Daytimes to Twelfth Night Celebrations and the annual Beamish Pantomime, visitors can enjoy a whole host of exciting events and activities this Christmas.

Step into a festive journey through time during Christmas at Beamish daytimes (daily until 24th December 2025) and experience the wonder of Christmas from the Georgian era all the way to the fabulous 1950s.

Enjoy twinkling decorations, delicious seasonal treats, nostalgic music and hands-on activities. Take a walk through Elf Wood to see what the elves are up to, pick up a Christmouse Trail and find the mice hidden in The 1900s Town and 1900s Pit Village and indulge in freshly baked festive treats from Herron’s Bakery. Plus, pop into the Museum Shop, 1950s toy shop, 1900s Town chemist’s and 1900s Town stalls to pick up the perfect Christmas gifts for Beamish fans.

Paul Foster, Events Manager at Beamish Museum, said: “Christmas at Beamish is always a special time and our daytime event is the perfect way to make magical Christmas memories with the whole family!”

The County Durham open air museum is closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, but the fun continues after Christmas with Twelfth Night Celebrations from 27th December 2025 to 4th January 2026 (closed 1st January 2026).

Paul added: “After Christmas, you can put your Beamish Unlimited Pass and Friends of Beamish membership to good use and bring the family along to our traditional Twelfth Night Celebrations. In the new year you can also see our fantastic Beamish Pantomime in The 1950s Town – tickets on sale now!”

Enjoy merry music and take part in fun, family craft activities as you soak up the festive atmosphere and enjoy Twelfth Night Celebrations at Pockerley Old Hall in the Georgian landscape.

During the 18th and 19th centuries, Twelfth Night was an occasion of mischief and merrymaking, with parties involving food, drink and traditional games. At Beamish, you’ll be able to get a feel for the Georgian merriment as you sample fruit punch and Twelfth Night cake, make your own Twelfth Night mask, listen to traditional music and join in with ceilidh dancing.

The Beamish Pantomime will return for 2026! The Beamish Amateur Dramatic Society will take to the stage in the 1950s welfare hall with their adaptation of Dick Whittington and his Cat, each weekend from 10th January to 8th February 2026 – oh yes, they will!

Tickets for the Beamish Pantomime cost £6 per adult and £3 per child (under 2s free, museum admission charges apply) and must be booked in advance. Tickets on sale now.

Christmas at Beamish daytimes and Twelfth Night are included in admission and are free to Unlimited Pass holders and Friends of Beamish members, pay once and visit free for a year. The Beamish Pantomime is a separate ticketed event, and must be booked in advance.
