North East Business Awards Success!

March 9th 2018

We won! Beamish is celebrating success in the North East Business Awards 2018.

We were delighted to win the Tourism & Hospitality Award in the Durham, Sunderland and South Tyneside area heat and will now go forward to the grand final next month.

More than 400 people attended the awards ceremony at Durham’s Ramside Hall last night (8th March). We were shortlisted in the category alongside Event Durham and Sunderland City Council.

Richard Evans, Beamish’s Director, said: “We were truly delighted to receive this award and it’s great to see tourism businesses such as Beamish being recognised for the impact they have on the region’s economy.

“It’s a tribute to all the hard work our staff and volunteers have done, welcoming people from all over the world and bringing the fascinating history of the North East to life.”

The North East Business Awards celebrate the region’s fantastic companies and organisations. They are held by The Journal and Gazette newspapers, in association with North East England Chamber of Commerce and a host of sponsors.

The Tourism & Hospitality Award was sponsored by the University of Sunderland.

The 12 categories also include Company of the Year, Innovation Award, Newcomer of the Year and Apprenticeship Award.

Organisations from across the region compete in three area heats – in Durham, Sunderland and South Tyneside; Northumberland and Tyneside and Teesside – before the grand final on 26th April.
