Beamish named in prestigious awards shortlist

April 7th 2017

Beamish has been voted as a finalist in the 2017 Group Travel Awards by readers of Group Travel Organiser magazine, alongside Bletchley Park, Buckingham Palace, the Eden Project and the London Eye, in the Best Attraction for Group Visits category.

The UK Group Travel Awards is one of the most distinguished and respected events in the group travel market.  Beamish is particularly proud to be included in the shortlist since the voters are group travel organisers who have personal experience of the museum themselves and placed it amongst the country’s leading attractions.

Beamish, Museum, Attraction, North East, Events, England, Great Day Out, Top Ten Places, Family Friendly, Dog Friendly, Victorian, 1940s, World War Two, 1950s, Festival, Transport, Costume, Learning, Award, group, travel.

Celebrating the news – Beamish is named as a finalist in the 2017 Group Travel Awards

The awards aim to cover all types of group travel trade suppliers and recognise the effort put in by those who work within the industry in meeting their customers’ needs.  More than 30,000 people visit Beamish each year in pre-booked coach parties. Many of these groups are visiting North East England on short break holidays, bringing valuable business to hotels and other tourist attractions in the region.

Jacki Winstanley, Beamish’s Marketing Officer, said: “We’re proud to be shortlisted as one of the country’s top venues for group visits – and in such excellent company too.  It shows that we are consistently giving our visitors a first class day out, maintaining our standards and meeting our customers’ expectations.  We hope that this will help to raise awareness of Beamish and bring even more coach trips to the museum and to our region.”

The winners of 2017 Group Travel Awards will be announced on 2nd June at a gala presentation evening at the Park Plaza Riverbank Hotel, London.

Fingers crossed!
