Be part of the Beamish Colliery Cricket Tournament 2019

We are looking for eight local, amateur teams to take part in our Colliery Cricket Summer tournament. It will start on Sunday, 21st July 2019 and last for 7 weeks. Ending with a final match on Sunday, 8th September at Beamish Museum.

Below is some information that will help you to understand more about the tournament and how it will take place.

Entry to the Museum

Each player will received a free entry voucher to gain entry on match days. In addition, every player will also receive a free entry voucher for one guest each. You will receive some discounted entry vouchers per team so that additional supporters can gain entry to the museum for £6.50 each. You are able to enter the museum from 10am, please show your ticket to the admissions desk at the Main Entrance.

Cricket Match

In most cases, the match will begin at 12pm on the Events Field, please make your way to the Events Field from 11am. There will be a tent for you to place your bags etc. The match will begin at 12pm; each team will play 20 overs. There will be a break for afternoon tea at 2pm – 2:30pm then play will resume at 2.30pm, this is flexible and if they choose to, the teams can enjoy afternoon tea after the match. The match will hopefully be finished for 5pm. This is subject to change nearer the time.

After the Match

In most cases, we will be serving Pimms on the Events Field after the match, from 4pm – 5pm to finish off the day in a sporting manner. After the Pimms has been enjoyed, you will be able to make your way out of the museum through the Main Entrance.

Attire and equipment

We are encouraging all of the cricket players to play in their usual cricket whites; we will be providing period style cricket caps for each team to wear. We are also encouraging all players to bring their own bats & equipment. Balls will be provided by the Museum.

Please note – All details are subject to change at any stage before and during the tournament.

All teams will be considered, but as limited numbers are available, applications will be processed on a first come, first served basis.
