Beamish Museum Shortlisted in Best UK Attraction Category

June 13th 2024

Beamish Museum has been shortlisted in the Best UK Attraction category at School Travel Organiser‘s School Travel Awards 2024!
Here at Beamish, we bring classroom learning to life through our wide range of immersive learning experiences.
Simon Woolley, the museum’s Head of Learning, said: “We’re delighted to have been shortlisted for the Best UK Attraction award at The School Travel Awards. The Beamish Learning Team works hard to create a range of immersive enquiry activities which link to the National Curriculum, from local history and investigating the death of a 12 year old miner in the James White Investigation to a whole host of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) activities and even camping, there are so many opportunities for schools at Beamish Museum.

“We endeavour to support all our local schools to ensure that their children are given the opportunity to enjoy a day out in a cultural venue and make memories while they learn. So many adults we talk to remember the visits they made to the museum with their schools. To be recognised as one of the Best UK attractions is very special.”

The annual awards, which are run by School Travel Organiser magazine, give schools the opportunity to pick their favourite attractions, venues, providers and experiences for school trips.

Beamish Museum has been shortlisted in the Best UK Attraction category alongside Go Ape, LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort, National Memorial Arboretum, Shakespeare’s Globe and Warner Bros. Studio Tour – The Making of Harry Potter.
