Christmas Victorian Lessons
Experience a traditional lesson of reading, writing, arithmetic and drill. Children will sit in rows and use pens and ink to do their work. Smart, sensible and silent – they will be expected to behave as though they were Victorian children (although a degree of flexibility will be employed). This workshop will take place in The 1900s Pit Village school at 11am, 1pm and 2.30pm. £2.50 per child per session, pre-booking essential. Suitable for ages 7+.
Playhouse Tales
Groups of children get the opportunity to work together and put on a Christmas performance using a miniature stage and puppets. This workshop will take place in the Masonic Hall at 10.30am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm. £2.50 per child per session, pre-booking essential. Suitable for ages 6+.
Traditions of Christmas
Come and visit a household preparing for Christmas in a time when celebrations were simpler, gifts homemade and children hoped to find an orange and a handful of nuts in their stocking. This workshop will take place at Pockerley Old Hall at 10.30am, 12.30pm and 2pm. £2.50 per child per session, pre-booking essential. Suitable for ages 4-7.

Christmas Crafts and SEND drop by in the 1950s welfare hall. Come and have a go at Christmas crafts inspired by a 1950s Christmas. This is also a SEND drop by session where you can chat with members of the museum’s Learning Team about any SEND requirements you might have that could help us shape future Home Educators’ Days.
