Transport yourself to the golden age of cinema with a nostalgic afternoon in our beautifully restored 1950s Grand Cinema. The Grand cinema, from Ryhope, in Sunderland, has been recreated and brought to life, in our 1950s Town.
Raised as an oversized elf, Buddy travels from the North Pole to New York City to meet his biological father, Walter Hobbs, who doesn’t know he exists and is in desperate need of some Christmas spirit.
Ticket Prices

- Child (16 & under) £10.00
- Under 18 months, not requiring their own seat – free entry. Please note that the cinema cannot accommodate buggies or pushchairs, and you will be asked to leave these outside the building at your own risk.
Carer tickets are free and must be pre-booked. Evidence of eligibility for carers status must be shown at the point of admission, examples of evidence include Blue Badge, Access Card, PIP letter, Government issued Disability card or equivalent.
Tickets for Grand Cinema Events must be pre-booked online (subject to availability) and will not be available to buy at the museum. You don’t need to pay museum admission to attend a cinema event, you just need to purchase cinema tickets. You will be able to enter the museum up to an hour before the showing time. Beamish Unlimited Passes and Friends of Beamish memberships are not valid for this event. Please show your Grand Cinema Ticket at the Entrance.
