Join us in our 1950s welfare hall, for our new weekly pre-school family play session.Explore 1950s life through toys, craft and rhyme.

Enjoy 1950s replica toys, inspired by those sold in the 1950s and reflecting 1950s themes such as the space race, puppets and 1950s TV characters.

Drop – in! No booking necessary, participation is on a first come, first served basis.


  • Tuesday, 14th January – Birdy Fun – make your own bird
  • Tuesday, 21st January – Snow and gloop fun – dress for mess!
  • Tuesday, 28th January – Space fun – make flying saucers and aliens
  • Tuesday, 4th February – Biscuit making
  • Tuesday, 11th February – Pink collage making
  • Tuesday, 25th February – Make junk model rockets

Times: there are two sessions – 

  • Morning play session: 10.15am – 12pm
  • Afternoon play session: 1pm – 3pm


There is no charge for participating in the sessions, usual museum admission applies, or use your Beamish Unlimited Pass or Friends of Beamish membership to visit for free.
