Weekend Winter Ice Skating
This winter you can get your skates on in The Pit Village at Beamish on our wonderful outdoor Ice Rink!
Every weekend from Saturday, 5th November 2011 through to Sunday, 26th February 2012, visitors can take a turn on the ice. The ice rink will also be open each day during half term from Saturday 11th to Sunday 19th February, including Monday and Friday.
- Visitors choosing to use our ice rink do so at their own risk
- Admission to the rink is on a first come first served basis
- The rink is 20 metres by 10 metres and is made from real ice.
- It can accommodate approximately 66 skaters at any one time.
- Cosy skate hire hut and drinks stall, so that visitors can put on their skates in comfort and warm themselves with a delicious hot drink.
- The rink will be decorated in a traditional Edwardian style with festoon lighting and have fairground organ music too.
Promotional offer: For every one full paying adult, one child skates free. Offer available from the 5th November 2011 until 26th February 2012 (Ice Rink open weekends only and the extra dates listed above).
Ice Rink Terms and Conditions
- Tickets, including skate hire, are £4 for children and £5 for adults for at least a 20 minute session.
- ‘Kids go Free’ - One child up to 16 years skates free with one full paying adult skater.
- Under 7s to be accompanied by an adult. Children aged 8 - 12 must be supervised by an adult (adults can watch rink-side if they prefer).
- The Museum reserves the right to decline entry to the Ice Rink.
- At busy times there maybe queuing.
- All skaters to skate in an anti-clockwise direction. One first aider on ice at all times.
- Two Ice Rink Attendants on the ice at all times.
- No snowballs or ice balls to be thrown on or near the Ice Rink.
- No food or drink to be consumed on the Ice Rink.
- In the event of an accident, first aiders are present and will deal with the accident immediately whilst ensuring the safety of all skaters.
- In the event of a serious accident the Ice Rink will be evacuated by Ice Rink staff.
- There will be no more than 66 ice skaters on the ice at any one time.
- Tickets will be sold at the Ice Rink from 10am for the following times:
- 10:15 – 11:00
- 11:00 – 11:45 (15 minutes break to clean the ice)
- 12:00 – 12:45
- 12:45 – 13:30 (15 minutes break to clean the ice)
- 13:45 – 14:30
- 14:30 – 15:15 (15 minutes break to clean the ice)
- 15:30 – 16:00
- Close.
- Booked sessions taken during the week minimum of 30 for booking. Group prices £4 per adult and £4 per child.
- Museum skates only to be used on Ice Rink N.B. Skate sizes start from a Euro size 28 (approx. child size 10)
- Times cover:–
- Boot collection & exchange.
- 20 minutes on the ice.
- Boot return & exchange.
- Boot collection by next time slot.
