Visitor Facilities

Beamish offers a wide range of facilities to ensure visitors have a comfortable and enjoyable visit.

Maps of the museum site can be found at various points around the museum, and highlight your nearest facilities. A printable copy of  our visitor information leaflet with a Museum map can be downloaded by clicking here.

If you require any assistance or directions, please ask a member of staff who will be happy to help you.

Dogs

Dogs are welcome at Beamish but must be kept on a lead at all times. They are allowed onto the lower decks of trams and buses at the discretion of staff, and only assistance dogs are allowed into any of the buildings (except the Entrance Building) or into the catering areas.

Parking

Free car parking is available for all visitors, including coaches and motor homes. Accessible parking is available on the lowest level of the car park.

Toilets

Toilet facilities can be found at the Entrance Building, and are available before you purchase tickets.

Baby Changing

There are baby changing facilities at the Entrance Building, and all other areas of the museum.

Catering

There are catering outlets in all areas of the museum, including the Entrance Coffee Shop which visitors are welcome to use before entering the museum. For more information on all of the catering outlets we have to offer, click here.

Retail Outlets

The Beamish Gift Shop can be found at the Entrance Building offering a wide variety of souvenirs, books, gifts, cold drinks, confectionary, cameras, and weather essentials such as ponchos and woolly hats.

Our new Kiosk, situated next to the Entrance Tram Stop, provides those last minute essentials you may need during your visit.

Items available from the kiosk include:

  • Soft Drinks
  • Souvenirs
  • Walking sticks
  • Gloves and wooly hats
  • Ponchos
  • Umbrellas
  • Cameras
  • Batteries

You will also find our Guide Books which gives a great insight into all areas of Beamish, the history of the Museum, and is a wonderful souvenir to take away with you.

Jubilee Confectionery, the famous Beamish Sweet Shop, can be found in The Town. Selling traditionally made sweets and confectionery, and giving regular demonstrations, Jubilee is always popular with visitors to Beamish!

Small souvenirs can also be purchased in the Co-op drapers and Grocers, and the Print Shop, all of which can be found in The Town.

Cash Machine/ATM

An ATM / Cash Machine can be found in the Entrance Coffee Shop. All of our Catering facilities and the Beamish Gift Shop accept Chip and Pin.

Smoking is not permitted in buildings, tram shelters or on Museum Transport.

Please do not feed any of the animals in the Museum.
