Beamish is an internationally renowned open air museum, with an emphasis on the daily social, rural and industrial lives of the people of the north of England. Gardens and woodland are integral to the visitor experience and a major part of the interpretation and engagement.

The successful candidate will work as part of the Gardens and Woodland team in delivering the vision of Beamish’s Business Plan – ‘putting the visitor first’, developing Beamish’s connection with local communities and helping local people celebrate their heritage; assist in helping Beamish to work towards a more sustainable future through assisting with the development of woodland management schemes.  The post holder will continue to plant and maintain hedges and trees as and where allocated, as part of an ongoing programme and management plan, as well as help with the maintenance of existing woodland and hedges, at both on site and off site areas of museum woodland.

The post holder will also be required to support developing garden and woodland projects as they progress and will work within the Gardens and Woodland team as required taking into account seasonal variations and associated tasks.
