Calling all local construction trade professionals!

Varied depending on trade

Details

Be part of building the past and leave a legacy for the future at Beamish Museum

  • Are you a qualified and experienced local tradesperson?
  • Would you like the opportunity to work on the building of a 1950s Town which includes translocated buildings and recreating a lost coaching inn?
  • Do you have an eye for quality and attention to detail?
  • Are you available for short term (under 12 weeks) or longer term contracts between March 2018 and December 2020?

Beamish Museum has broken ground with its exciting £18million Remaking Beamish project. Supported by National Lottery players through the Heritage Lottery Fund, the project will transform the award-winning open air museum, adding a 1950s Town, a coaching inn, and a number of 1820s buildings.

Our in-house Buildings Team and contractors have extensive experience in creating both historical and modern buildings but to deliver a project of this size we need to grow our construction capacity.  We are looking for flexible tradespeople with extensive experience of working on large multi-site build projects where the sequence of works requires a broad range of trades to support up to four concurrent building sites. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2020.

We are calling for expressions of interest from the following trades that would like to join our trade register as directly employed labour and are confident they can meet the demands of working on this high profile and exciting project:

  • Bricklayers £13.45 per hour
  • Electricians £13.92 per hour
  • Plumbers £10.10 per hour

Contracts will be of varying lengths with working hours agreed in advance and as a direct employee of the museum pay will be weekly by bank transfer.

Any questions regarding the roles can be directed to michellelagar@beamish.org.uk.

Expressions of interest to be included in our trade register can be submitted by way of a CV in the first instance along with a covering letter or email outlining your availability and specialist trade.

All candidates will be given the opportunity to come on an informal visit to the museum, hear more about the construction work involved in the Remaking Beamish project, the scope of trade roles, ask questions and meet some of the construction team.
