Read all about it! Beamish Magazine brings you the latest news, features and behind-the-scenes stories from the museum.
The Winter 2016/17 issue reveals the fantastic news that we have received £10.9million from the Heritage Lottery Fund for our Remaking Beamish project! The developments will include a 1950s Town with cinema, community centre and aged miners homes, and additions to the Georgian Landscape will include Joe the Quilter’s cottage and a coaching inn where visitors can stay overnight.
We were named Large Visitor Attraction of the Year for the third year in a row at the North East England Tourism Awards, plus we were named Attraction of the Year at the Living North Awards. This, combined with record-breaking visitor numbers, has amounted to a fantastic year for Beamish!
Stars of Dark Angel talk about filming at the museum and the roles they played in the ITV drama, Chris Tarrant talk trains in a My Beamish special and read about the help Durham university students have provided in preserving museum items set to go in The 1950s Town and Georgian area.
We share the latest Friends of Beamish news, fantastic festival and events photos, latest additions to our collections, and visitors’ wonderful stories and pictures.
