At Beamish pupils can study English, Mathematics, Science and the Environment, GNVQ Leisure and Tourism, Geography, Technology, Citizenship and, of course, History!

A visit can be further enhanced by using the services of the Beamish Education Department. Education staff can assist teachers in planning a visit and provide further information on the resources available for teachers and pupils using Beamish.

Admission Charges for Educational visits

Summer 2011   £6.00 per pupil
Winter 2011/12   £5.00 per pupil

Teachers / supervisory staff - one free to every three children aged 5 years or under.
Teachers / supervisory staff - one free to every five children aged between 5 and 18 years.
Teachers / supervisory staff - one free to every ten students for college and university visits.

In excess of these ratios, teachers pay £11.00 in the summer and £6.00 in the winter. These prices apply to pupils / students in full time education visiting with schools, colleges or universities.

Special Educational needs

Beamish provides excellent opportunities for pupils with physical and learning disabilities.  Visits and activities will be arranged to meet the needs of all of your pupils and special concessions are available.

Facilities

Educational groups are advised to bring a packed lunch and a drink. Refreshments, ice creams and drinks are available.

Undercover facilities for eating packed lunches are provided in the Porter Room in The Town and must be booked in advance via the Education Department. Alternatively you may choose to return to your coach for lunch. There are picnic areas and shelter may be found in the school playground or in The Town bandstand.
