Traditions of Easter

£40 per class, Reception, KS1 & KS2

Celebrate the arrival of spring and the festival of Easter in the beautiful surroundings of Pockerley Old Hall.

Children will explore and experience the ways in which people celebrated the season in the Georgian and Victorian times. The group will take part in a baking activity with the opportunity to try the traditional spice flavours of simnel baking. They will try their hand at games such as egg jarping and will go home with a card perfect for Easter or Mothering Sunday.

This activity will help children to:

  • Gain a good understanding how Easter and the arrival of spring has been celebrated in the past.
  • Understand some of the similarities and differences between life then and now, using the atmosphere and background of a traditional Georgian setting.
