Bring to life the exciting world of pantomime and perform Cinderella on our beautiful scaled up toy theatre.
A trip to the theatre has long been a traditional part of Christmas celebrations. This activity will introduce children to the world of Edwardian/Victorian theatres and toy theatres. Children will find out about the traditions of pantomime. Each taking a role, be it narrator, sound effects or stage management, they will use a scaled up version of a traditional toy theatre to put on their own performance of Cinderella. Working in groups, everyone will be involved in performing a scene which together will tell the whole fairytale.
Through this activity children will:
- Put together the different elements of a play of Cinderella, including sound effects, stage management and props, and narration of the script, thinking about intonation and volume.
- Perform the play of Cinderella.
