Old King Coal

Wed 26th - Sun 30th Jun

Join us for Old King Coal and remember the region’s proud coal mining heritage.

Coal mining once dominated the North East. Many of the villages and towns in the region came to existence as a result of the mining industry, in fact, the site on which the museum stands was once in the heart of the Durham coalfield.

During this celebration, you’ll be able to watch impressive banner parades, enjoy brass band performances and discover more about the important contribution made by North East miners and their families.

As with all daytime events, you can use your Unlimited Pass or Friends of Beamish membership to enjoy this special event.
