Join us for the Great North Festival of Transport this spring, with amazing vehicles, fantastic horses and magnificent mining banner parades.
Come along to Old King Coal, from 29th March to 2nd April, to celebrate the region’s proud mining heritage. Take part in parades, enjoy brass bands and folk music, see miners’ banners on display and discover how coal from the North East’s pit villages supported the war effort.
Don’t miss the Great North Steam Fair, from 6th to 9th April, with a remarkable line-up of Beamish transport and visiting vehicles in action and on display. Marvel at the steam locomotives, more than 15 road steam vehicles and around 90 motor vehicles, take part in transport-themed activities, enjoy a steam train ride and visit the model tramway exhibition.
Horses at Work, from 21st to 23rd April, brings the festival to a close with an extravaganza of horses, ponies and horse-drawn vehicles. Watch fascinating displays and see horses at work around the museum, from pit pony demonstrations to field work and road deliveries, and take a ride on horse-drawn transport.
The Great North Festival of Transport is included in entry to Beamish and is FREE to Unlimited Pass holders, as with all daytime events.
