See and experience amazing activities centred around science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) at Beamish!

1950s welfare hall

  • Visit the exhibition of amazing cranes built by pupils from primary schools across the North East as part of the Crank It Up Engineering Challenge.
  • See the Radio Society of Great Britain’s demonstrations of radio equipment.

1900s Town

  • Make a mini catapult with STEAM Ahead Education in the Masonic Hall.
  • Try your hand at circuit building in the Bank Board Room.

1900s Pit Village

  • Watch a Just One Spark performance in the chapel 11am, 12pm, 1.30pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm.
  • Can you solve a Tangram mathematical puzzle in The Pit Village school?

Pockerley Old Hall

  • Learn about maritime navigator Jane Taylor, an incredible mathematician from Wolsingham.

The 1820s Waggonway

  • Build and test a wind-powered buggy.

1940s Farm

  • Have a go at writing with invisible ink at Orchard Cottage.

Across site

  • Complete the Curiosity Trail as you explore the museum. These are available from the Entrance and the 1950s welfare hall.
