Experience a truly traditional Christmas Evening at Beamish. Taste scrumptious seasonal cooking, listen to merry music, try your hand at traditional crafts and be amazed as your favourite parts of the museum are beautifully decorated for a festive evening like no other!

Christmas Evenings will take place on the 5th, 6th, 12th, 13th, 19th and 20th December 2019 from 4.30pm to 9.30pm.

Delve into Christmas past from Georgian times right the way through to the 1950s. Indulge yourself with roasted chestnuts, mulled wine and entertainment. Experience Beamish’s first 1950s Christmas in the new welfare hall! Take a turn on our real, outdoor ice rink* and sideshows*, and enjoy a delicious hot chocolate. Treat yourself to something special amongst the delightful decorations, traditional trinkets and festive food at our Christmas bazaar in The 1900s Town park. Be entertained with Georgian music, dancing, food and Twelfth Night Celebrations at Pockerley Old Hall.

Meet Father Christmas in his cosy Grotto and say hello to his friendly reindeer at Pockerley Waggonway. £6 per child includes a small, traditional gift. Grotto entry session tickets must be pre-booked prior to your visit (subject to availability).


Grotto tickets must be purchased prior to your visit. No Grotto tickets will be on sale during the event. To visit Father Christmas a valid Christmas Evening entry ticket must be purchased as well as a Grotto entry ticket. Subject to availability.

Under 2s do not require a ticket to enter the museum but will require a Grotto entry ticket if they wish to visit Father Christmas. Subject to availability.

Free parking is available in the main car park. No dogs are allowed, except for assistance dogs. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Visitors are also advised to bring a torch and wear sturdy footwear.

Beamish Unlimited Passes and Friends of Beamish memberships are not valid for evening events. Christmas Evening tickets are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for an alternative date or event.
