There’s warm plum pear and mixed spice cordial with a serving of festive cake to greet you on arrival then live music as you make your way to the Entrance tram stop.

In The 1900s Town there are charming and quirky gifts to find at the Beamish Bazaar in the park – take home some traditional trinkets, pretty presents and local festive food.

There’s a brass band playing seasonal favourites in the bandstand, Christmas melodies in the music teacher’s house, music hall performances by the ‘Newcastle Nightingale’ in the Masonic hall and the Ran Tanners entertaining with jolly folk tunes in the street.

Pop in to the carriage house for a Punch and Judy performance –  that’s the way to do it!

Take a seat in the chapel in The Pit Village to sing along with the choir’s Christmas carols and enjoy a performance of children’s theatre ‘The Night Before Christmas’ in the school.  Youngsters can get crafty with lino printing and kaleidoscope making.  In the band hall you can join in with some ceilidh dancing. Look out for clog dancers and mummers and enjoy cheery Christmas entertainment around the village.

At The 1940s Farm cottages you’ll discover Christmas traditions and recipes from the times, enjoy merry concertina melodies and join in with festive family games and crafts.

The King Cole Ceilidh Band will entertain you at Pockerley Old Hall – tap your feet  and, if you’re feeling energetic, join in with the ceilidh dancing. There are craft activities for children to enjoy here too.

Walk through the snowy Waggonway to say hello to Father Christmas’ magnificent reindeer and look out for the guisers in their amazing costumes.
