Awards Shortlist Hat-trick!

November 3rd 2016

Beamish is delighted to have been shortlisted for three awards.

We’re finalists in the national VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2017 in the Family Friendly Attraction of the Year category, in conjunction with Family Traveller. The winners are due to be announced next year.

We’ve also made the shortlist for Large Visitor Attraction of the Year in the North East England Tourism Awards 2016, alongside the Life Science Centre in Newcastle and the Sage Gateshead/North Music Trust. The awards will be presented on 22nd November during a celebration at Newcastle Civic Centre.

Beamish is a finalist in the Living North Awards too, in the Attraction of the Year category. The winners will be revealed on 25th November at Newcastle’s St Nicholas Cathedral.

At last year’s North East England Tourism Awards, Beamish was jointly named Large Visitor Attraction of the Year with Seven Stories, The National Centre for Children’s Books.

We won a bronze award at this year’s VisitEngland Awards for Excellence, in the Large Visitor Attraction of the Year category.

Richard Evans, Beamish’s Director, said: “We’re really delighted to be nominated again for these awards – which are such a fantastic showcase for our tourism industry.

“It is great that we are able to get together to celebrate everything our region has to offer – from its diverse culture and heritage to all the great places for people to stay. The importance of tourism for our economy is often overlooked so it’s important we remember all the money it brings to our region and all the jobs this creates.”
