Renaissance is all about transforming England’s regional museums: making them world class and fit for the 21st century.
The first investment of its kind, Renaissance is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to make museums great centres of life and learning, closely connected to their localities, which people want to use.
The Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA), the lead strategic body for museums, has secured nearly £150 million from central government for this groundbreaking programme between 2002 and 2008.
The North East Regional Museums Hub is a partnership of Tyne & Wear Museums; Beamish Museum; The Bowes Museum; Hartlepool Museums and MLA North East.
